This Friday on the 19th we will be celebrating the feast of St. Joseph, the spouse of the Blessed Virgin Mary and the foster-father of Jesus. His important mission in God's plan of salvation was "to legally insert Jesus Christ into the line of David from whom, according to the prophets, the Messiah would be born, and to act as his father and guardian". Most of our information about St. Joseph comes from the opening two chapters of St. Matthew's Gospel. No words of his are recorded in the Gospels; he was the "silent" man. Through his silence he did the will of God.
Fittingly, Pope Francis has dedicated this year to the care of our Heavenly patron. As I already announced to you, the parish council is planning to do something special on May 1st, the feast of St. Joseph, the worker. I don’t know how many of you have heard about the book called, ‘Consecration to St. Joseph: the Wonders of our Spiritual Father’. It is a beautiful book which speaks about consecrating ourselves to the Heavenly Patron for 33 days. If you would like to do, we can begin it on the 30th of March and end it on May 1st. I would recommend you to buy the book if possible; otherwise you can recite the litany to St. Joseph that you find in the webpage of https://yearofstjoseph.org/consecration/.
