Matrimony (Marriage) is a Sacrament of Committed Service. The Church welcomes a couple as they begin their life of committed, faithful love, and celebrates the wedding of its members in the context of our prayer as Christians. Thus we come together as a community asking God’s blessing on them and giving them our prayerful support.
St. Joseph Catholic Church is recognized as a beautiful church, perhaps the prettiest Catholic church in Kalamazoo. For this reason and many others, we receive many wedding requests. To begin exploring the possibility of scheduling a wedding at St. Joseph Church we require each couple to review
If you feel your expectations are a good fit with St. Joseph, compete these two forms. The Marriage Inquiy Form provides contact information along the basic details about your plans. We also require that you read the Wedding Handbook and accept the conditions and policies as described.

Facilitates an engaged couple's discussion of the results of their pre-marital inventory. The instrument we use is FOCCUS (Facilitating Open Couple Communication, Understanding, and Study). The meeting is scheduled for a mutually convenient time and usually lasts for a couple of hours. Most facilitators have the meeting in their home, but meetings may be held at the parish. The engaged couple takes the FOCCUS Inventory online. Facilitator training is provided online.
Gives an 8-10 minute talk about the impact faith and prayer have in their married life. It is a personal sharing of how Christian Marriage is for them. Usually two married couples give a short presentation at each seminar which includes, in addition to the presentations, formal input, a short video presentation, and prayer.
